I don’t know these people but I am so fascinated and drawn into their lives. I think, Kim has found her knight in shinning armour. I do wish them both all the best. Here on the cover of the April 2014 issue of Vogue, I see true love at its finest “WORLDSMOSTTALKEDABOUTCOUPLE”… Yeah, I’m a romantic, hopelessly. 🙂
LUXX READY TO WEAR FASHIONS
I am very thankful to have met Mr. Derek Jagodzinsky last week at our Student Retreat. Derek Jagodzinsky of LUXX READY TO WEAR (luxxreadytowear.com) was one of our many service providers that we had on hand to pamper our post secondary students at the Fantasyland Conference Centre. He was able to join us on Thursday afternoon to give our students a one on one fashion tips and share the latest trends session. As you can image, he is in high demand and we were blessed and honored to have him with us last Thursday.
He was able to share with us that he will be featured in the March 2014 issue of FASHION Magazine, so grab a copy right away, as I am sure they will sell out once it hits the stands. The way Derek brings his native culture forward, in his designs, is very unique and has given him solid recognition as one of todays hottest Aboriginal Fashion Designers in Canada. No doubt, he has gained international recognition with this alone. He also mentioned that Lindsay Willier, National Finalist for Canada’s Next Top Model has modeled some of his designs and is amazing motivational person. (If you were to ask me, Lindsay should have won).
A number of Derek’s designs were recently purchased by the Royal Alberta Museum in Edmonton and will be permanently showcased in the Aboriginal Language Section of the Museum and once you see these amazing designs, you will know why. These pieces that will be showcased at the Museum have our Cree Syllabics on them which reads over and over, “We will Succeed”. When he shared this story with me, I could see how proud he is of his accomplishments to date and I could tell he is very passionate about his work. He said that adding the traditional colors, red/white/yellow/black, of the medicine wheel into his designs was a key concept in this years designs. As a fashion designer, he is always thinking ahead to his next collection and no doubt they will be fabulous. He is a very talented designer and I am so happy that I was able to spend time with him and hear his fashion story. Beauty Native Style all the way Derek!
