BEST Eyeshadow Palette(s) of 2017

The following are my own photos and thoughts.

8A933361-C613-4BC5-8C5E-0C69937D30FFToday’s post is to showcase the 3 eye shadow palettes that I have enjoyed using in 2017.  Two palettes were released in 2017 and the other is from an earlier release.  Out of all the makeup products out there on the market, eye shadows are my makeup of choice.  Addition?  Collector?  I don’t know, all I know is I enjoy shopping my stash each morning as I attempt to create the Mona Lisa of the day… lol.  I know some people that enjoy collecting lip products, others get a rush out of foundation products, but for me, its eye shadow.  With each new palette addition, I became more and more confident with my product application, shade selection (preference), textures/finishes, pigmentation, packaging and brand.  After some thought and deliberation, I chose the following 3 palettes that I feel would best represent my year in review.  These palettes gained this status as top three as they check off all the boxes for me:  1. Is it portable?  2.  Do I use 75% of the shades? 3. Am I using it every week?  If I can pack a palette with me on trip, use almost every shade and use on a regular basis in some way, it gains most used status.  I love eye shadows, whether they are in individual pans or part of a palette.  The tones that I am attracted to are the warm matte shades.  However, I have been branching out into the cool tones, which is a real stretch for me and I must say, I’m liking.

Finding out whether I was warm or cooled toned is something I just don’t get, so I’m going to say that I’m neutral (laughing).  I have gained many helpful tips and tricks along the way but learning about the color wheel, was a pivotal point in my application game.  Who knew, that this simple concept would be a game changer for me… Understanding why certain shades are life long friends from the get go and why some shades go into battle with each others, was a huge lesson learned. Here are my top 3 palettes.

img_2125-1This palette, for the past 3 years, has taken the number one spot as my most used and loved palette, WOW.  I just can’t get enough of it.  The formula that they used for this palette, created some amazingly pigmented shades that melt together and compliment my skin tone the best.  It’s heavenly.  I purchased this palette about 3 years ago.  It was initially released as a limited edition palette, however, the following year, it was added to their permanent line and can be purchased at Sephora.  I have used every shade, and of course, have used some shades more than others.  I have hit pan in 5 shades and I am very close to hitting pan in two more.  The darker shades, I use when I need to build up the outer part of my lid or I use all over my mobile lid.  I lean toward the 7 matte shades and use the 3 sheen shades for a slight shine on my lids.  The remaining 2 lighter shades have a sheen to them and i love using them on my brow bone for a smidge of highlight.  All of theses shades blend into each other remarkably, last all blooming day, shade selection and pairing are off the charts, its just one dang good heck of a palette and takes it away again for 2017.  AGAIN!

#1 Palette the Laura Mercier, Artist Palettes

2nd two palette the ABH Subculture Palette

Yes indeed, the Subculture palette is my second favorite palette and was released in 2017.  This palette received a lot of negativity from people in the beauty community who purchased it right from the get go or were sent as PR.  I did not purchase my palette right away because of all the bad press it was receiving which spooked me, so I waited.  As I viewed the beauty gurus on YouTube, I would hear that it is a difficult palette to work with, the shades don’t blend well together, it doesn’t make sense, the list is endless.  I was thinking, WHAT THE HECK – is it REALLY that bad?  Am I going to waste my money?  Maybe I shouldn’t purchase it…  in the end, I thought to myself… those are their thoughts on their experience and I should not base my decision on their, not so great, experience/reviews.  However, there was one thing was consistent in each video that was slowing drawing me in, it was the shade selection, OMG so gorgeous. So, I added to my Sephora cart, pressed purchase and received it 2weeks later (yes 2weeks).  When I opened it and started messing around with it, I was hooked.  This palette has allowed me to be creative, to use a total different color out of my comfort zone and have come up with some great looks that I’m proud to be seen in.

Subculture #2 Palette

I honestly, can’t get enough of this sister palette to the Modern Renaissance, the Subculture palette is my second most used / loved palette.  On the Anastasia Beverly Hills website they describe the Subculture palette as “having 14 shades that range from grungy matte to bold metallic with an underground edge”.  I don’t know what that means exactly, but dang, I am so happy that I did not let the negativity around this palette sway my decision to purchase it.  I absolutely love using it.

Viseart Grande Pro

My third selection is the Viseart Grande Pro, Volume 1 Palette.  It was released late 2017 (November is when I received mine) and I was so happy when I saw my box from Muse Beauty Pro in my mail.
I felt like I had just received the most exquisite piece of fine jewelry in the world as I handled with care…. lol.  I am very impressed with the shade selection and the palette all around, Viseart did an amazing job.  Well Done Viseart!  If you want to see some of the amazing photos of the Viseart products in actions, follow Viseart on Instagram.  I feel like my collection is now complete.  My palette was part of the first 3000 that were release from Muse Beauty Pro and is numbered 1707/3000.

Viseart Grande Pro

The starred shades are the ones that I have been using most frequently.  I did a blog post on this palette, so I won’t go into the details.  Please feel free to check out my Viseart blog post from January 01, 2018.

With that, I wish you all a good day .

Benefit’s Coralista

My Favorite Blush!

Everyone has a favorite makeup product that they just can’t live without for any length of time and may call it their holy grail product.  Some may say that going without their holy grail product for any length of time, may cause them to go into some unnatural state of behavior or that they may turn into some zombie type creature.  Well, that may not the case but I know for me, I really enjoy using Benefit’s Coralista Blush.  I mean geeee, can I look any more gorgeous with this blush on.  I would say 85% of the time, I would have this cute blush on my cheeks,.   Sephora describes it as a coral-pink blush that will warm up your complexion and is $36.  The coral-pink color and the fragrance is simply divine.  None of my other blushes have a scent to them and I was very pleasantly surprised when the Coralista blush did.

I once used the brush that came with the package to do my whole makeup routine because I had accidentally forgotten my makeup brushes at home.  I would say that yes, this brush has its uses and I always keep the brushes that come with any product.  I would really like to hear what your favorite blush is and why, so if you would like share, please comment below.

I’m not a makeup artist to recommend this blush to a particular skin type or color, all I know that it’s a really beautiful coral pink color and in my opinion, would look great on anyone.  There you have it, my favorite blush, so until next time, stay fabulously amazing!

Here are my thoughts……

Man oh Man! Has this palette ever created a buzz.

I enjoy browsing the different cosmetic sites, watching the Beauty Guru’s videos on You Tube, and visiting Beauty Blogs that are out there on the World Wide Web.  It’s amazing how I can connect to all this information with just a tap of my finger.  Last night I watched another You Tube video, where the lady was showing her latest haul and of course the first item she showed was the Lorac Mega Pro Palette.  She boosted about how amazing it is, how happy she was to finally have it and went on into detail about the description of each shadow.   I then went on to another video, and once again, another guru was talking about how lucky she was to have it BUT did not go into details as she stated that “since many were not able to purchase this palette, that she did not want to give a review on it”.  I appreciated this.  I am happy for all the people who were lucky enough to have received the Lorac Mega Palette free, from the company (or where every they rec’d it from) for them to review AND for the many who were able to purchase it online, I’m happy for them.  They have something that I and many others do not have.  I could go and purchase one off Ebay, but that’s not happening.  So, in my opinion, “i’m ok” with not being able to have this palette.  I am very, very, very happy with the many palettes that I have collected over the years and I know I have more than I could ever use.

I was so happy using my Charlotte Tilbury Luxury Palette and Blushes, that I missed all the hype and releasing of the Lorac Palette.  That by the time I caught on that Lorac had this MEGA palette out, it was all sold out.  So to soothe my makeup addiction, I just walk over to my vanity and pick up my SUGARPILL Palette or my CHARLOTTE TILBURY palette or the many, many, many other palettes that I do have and the Lorac Palette is forgotten.  🙂

Ombre Nudes Eye Palette

IMG_3349The  shades that are in this amazing palette are definitely top notch and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE using this palette.  These shadows have been infused with Green Coffee Oil and also have a built in primer, which definitely helps to extend the wear through out the day and on into the evening.

Smooth, creamy and absolutely devine is how I would describe the Becca Ombre Nude Eye Palette.  It wears perfectly all day with no dulling or smudging.  I love reaching for it, as soft nudes and matte shadows are my absolute fav.   The Tarte beMattnificent palette is in the same range for me 🙂

I can create so many great looks for a day at the office and then deepen the eye shadow for a more dramatic night time, out on the town look.    The colors are very pigmented and range from a soft light creamy color to a rich chocolate brown.   This palette can be applied wet or dry, however, I have only used them dry.  As for me, I have not really caught on to using this or any eye shadows wet, expect for the Milani’s Runway Eyes #05 Girls Luv Pink.

I purchased online through Sephora and look forward to adding more Becca cosmetics to my collection. I highly recommend this lovely palette to those who enjoy matte shades and want a great go to option.  These are my thoughts on the Becca Ombre Nude Eye Palette.  Until next time, stay gorgeous!

I feel like it’s been months and months since I posted a piece here on my blog. It’s been a weird couple of weeks here at home and at work. Seems like I’ve missed so much but yet something’s are the same. On my Facebook account people have been annoyed with the weather, planning or are on a vacation, some continue to post about their everyday tasks and some have fallen off the radar. Falling off the radar is the category that I would place myself. I feel like I didn’t miss too too much.

The last time I posted was when I commented about my Sephora Spring Social for their VIB customers, which I must say was very nice, I enjoyed myself. Since then, I seem to be in a Bronzer and lip product phase. While I was at SDM I picked up some more Rimmel and Essence products and I must admit that I am enjoying these two drugstore product lines. The Rimmel Bronzer, matte finish, in Sun Queen gives me a nice everyday spring sculpted cheek and have been reaching for it over my Lancomb Smooth Loose Powder. In my opinion the LANCOMB Bronzer, slight sheen finish, is my #1 go to Bronzer then the Rimmel in Sun Queen is a very close second, with my TIGI and PHYSICIANS FORMULA bronzers both coming in third. They are all fabulous in my opinion and love each of the different finishes that they give me depending on the look I am going for that day.

Like bronzer’s, I have also found myself swatching lipsticks and lipglosses. I have purchased a number of both from BUXOM and TARTE. From the BUXOM line I purchased the Full On Lip Cream in Creamsicle, the Full Bodied Lipgloss in Boo-Ya, the Lip Tarnish in Pink, the Lipstick in Swinger, and the full On Lip Polish in Trixie. In the TARTE line I purchased the dual pack Cheek Stain and Lip Surgence and not sure if the colour is called ENERGY or not, however it is a very lite pink colour. I’ve been wear all of these lip products alone or in combination with each other and I just love the finish I get from these products. Again, another must have, stay gorgeous until next time. 🙂
