My BEST Highlighter(s) of 2017

I’m obsessed….

Both NARS Palette Swatches (Blanc de Sable & Bord de Plage 2017

…. and am very happy by the products that NARS has released in 2017, especially their highlighters.  The formula is on point with the two fabulous palettes that come out:  the Blanc de Sable & the Bord de Plage.

NARS Amazing Highlighter Palettes

At first, I was not going to purchase either of them, then I saw the hype it was receiving by the beauty gurus saying OMG “the Blanc de Sable is next level in highlighting and that I need to need come out and set up camp with them down at the NARS head quarters”, lol.   This was back in February 2017, so of course, I went to the Sephora website put the NARS Blanc De Sable highlighter palette in my cart, pressed purchased and got my receipt.

NARS Blanc De Sable Highlighter

Honestly, when I first used it, I was not that impressed and thought “mehh, just another highlight”.  However, after playing with it for a while, I noticed I was reaching for this palette more and more.  I thought to myself one day “damn this is good” as I looked at myself in my mirror.

NARS Highlighting Gorgeousness

It gave my cheeks that lil extra something, did not accent my cheek texture nor was it thick and chunky.  It applies very evenly, has a smooth finish, I can build it up from a soft finish to a more intense shine and stays on all day.  So of course, it soon became my most used highlighter and kick all my current highlighters to the curb.

Now, just as I was so sure I was not going to need another highlighter ever again, NARS released the Bord De Plage Highlighter & Bronzing Palette.  Well for peat sakes, there I am once again, heading over to the Sephora website, adding the palette to my cart, purchasing it and there I remain on the NARS highlighting train.  I’ve been on the NARS highlighting train for almost a year and I have no plans on jumping off yet.  Although, I have made some pit stops here and there but I’ve always returned on my original route to NARS head quarters.

The Bord De Plage palette released in July 2017 and has 4 highlighters and 2 bronzing shades.  Granted it has some already released shades and some newer shades, which does not bother me in the least.

Bord de Plage Highlighter & Bronzer

It’s the formula that I was after because it’s simply phenomenal.  Since I have set up camp here at NARS head quarters, I have noticed that the formula in both the Blanc De Sable and the Bord De Plage are very similar, if not exact.  I’m mean, WOW!  I’m not into checking ingredient list on products, my research is based on use of product.  Each day I wake up and feel anxious as I know I will using my fav palettes and will use one or both to highlight or bronze.  I then give a wave to the NARS staff and salute them for creating the best highlighters for 2017.

I am very pleased with both palettes, my best highlighter for 2017, and I look forward to seeing what else NARS releases for 2018.

April Empties!

Some Amazing Products and Some Not so Amazing

April Empties1

My last empties blog post was on March 18th and since then I have used up quiet a few products.  Some I absolutely loved and will definitely be repurchasing and others I did care for and will not be repurchase.  I am going to list these products in no particular order and write why I liked or disliked each product.

1.  Gucci Guilty Perfume:  This is my 3rd bottle and will definitely be repurchasing.  This fragrance is simply empowering and I only seem to wear it when I know that that day is going to be fabulous and wearing this perfume will ensure that I get everything done with perfection.  I don’t know how to describe this scent but to say it has a floral sweet scent.  It’s awesome and I love it.

2.  Marc Jacobs Daisy Perfume:  Another great fragrance. This is my second bottle and will be repurchasing for is delicate lady like scent.  It’s one of those perfumes that I wear almost everyday because of it’s soft floral scent that stays with me all day.  Absolutely yummy.  img_0079.jpg

3.  Tarte’s Pure Maracuja Oil:  I can’t believe this is my third bottle since last Fall 2014.  I purchased it to prepare my skin for the upcoming Winter season when my skin becomes more drier and needs help from the brutal Winters here in northern Alberta.  It gave my skin the extra moisture it needed and will continue to use until the warmer spring/summer months set in.  Highly recommend. tarte mar oil

4.  Colleen Rothschild’s Radiant Cleansing Balm:  I watched Nicole Guerriero’s April Beauty Favorites 2014 video where she talked about her favs for the month and when she talked about the Radiant Cleansing Balm I was intrigued and thought I need this cleansing balm in my life.  Shortly after watching this video I purchased three products from the Colleen Rothschild website: Moisturizing Cream, Night Cream and the Cleansing Balm.  I am still working on my Moisture Cream which I use sparingly as these products were pricey.  I just used the last bit of my cleansing balm last night and it lasted me almost a year, a little went a long way.  It literally MELTED my makeup off and left my skin feeling smooth and fully cleansed.  This product will be making into my 2015 favorites.  I will also be repurchasing very soon.  Colleen Rothschild

5. NARS Eyeshadow Base:  I have been using this product steady for the past month and not because I liked using it but because I was trying to use it up.  I have oily eyelids and I heard other people saying that this product helped their eyeshadow stay on longer without creasing.  Well it did not help me at all, maybe for a few hours.  Anyway, I used it up and will not be repurchasing.  I will stick with my UD eyelid anti aging primer.

6.    Loreal Voluminous Manga Blackest Black Mascara:  The brush applied the mascara evenly to my lashes and after a couple layers gave my lashes some nice volume and color.  Not so much lengthening but was good.  I like to use different mascaras and I don’t remain loyal to any particular brand.  Why? Mainly because their are so many mascaras out on the market and enjoy testing them out.  I stay away from the high end as the drugstore brands are just as good if not better.

7.  dr. Brandt’s Do Not Age Samples:  I received the Neck Firm Cream and the Triple Peptide Eye Cream as a Sephora sample a few months ago and found that I liked the results.  However, I like my current routine and will not be looking to purchase these products any time soon.  DNA

8.  Moroccan Oil Treatment:  I like using this product on the ends of my hair to keep it from drying out.  It keeps my hair nice and health and gives if a nice sheen throughout the day.  I will continue to purchase.

9.  Benefits’s Porefessional:  This was a small sample size I picked up while waiting in the Sephora checkout line.  I have since purchased a full size and love the way it smooth’s over my pores and hides them nicely.  Awesome product, recommend.

10.  Maybelline’s Dream Lumi Highlighting Concealor:  I am on my 4th tube and will continue to repurchase.  This is my favorite drug store concealor and my shade is light medium.  I love the twist up mechanism and the small brush applicator.

Well that wraps up this months empties, hope you enjoy one or two of these products and would love to hear your thoughts on any one of these products.

NARSissist DUAL INTENSITY EYESHADOW PALETTE

Can we all just take a deep breath and appreciate this AMAZING PALETTE!

Nars Dual Cover

I literally had to force myself to stop reaching for this shiny amazing, all I ever need palette.  Seriously, I have some issues.   Dang, I enjoy using this palette and the one single shadow I bought because I thought that these 8 were not enough, said the woman with a million palettes.
I just LOVE this palette!  There!  I feel much better.
At first, when I purchased it, I thought, “what the heck am I going to do with these shade colors”? But I didn’t care, I just kept on going down the road of no return.  I began to swatch each one very carefully and then I would examine it.  Holding my swatched arm in dim light, bright lights, sun light and I thought, huh! not bad.
IMG_0618Then the unthinkable happened, I was reaching for my makeup brushes and it’s like I was possessed by the makeup gods, my hands moving with such finesse, swirling and swiping.  It was over in a few minutes.  I sat there stunned looking at the image in the mirror, who was this Goddess staring back at me?  I started to examine the colors and my work and I thought, I LOVE THIS PALETTE!  That was maybe 2 months ago and I am hooked.  So, my words to you are,   I highly recommend this palette to anyone out there that is flirting with the idea of wanting to change things up and wanting a palette that would give you great color and is easy to use.  I  am in no way a makeup artist or pro, I have learned from trial and error, and this palette is phenomenal.  I’m sure many of you have tried this palette but for those of you that have not, take it from someone that just loves makeup, it’s a great pallet.

Until next time, stay stunning!

Today’s Makeup!

A Quick Post on the Products that I used…

todays makeup 1

I am listing each product as I would put them on..

Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer has a more of a watery type consistency, which I’m not too keen on but it performs fabulously once I got over the consistency.  I do still prefer my MAC Prep + Prime and do enjoy changing up my products as there is always something new to check out.
Benefits Porefessional was used around my nose area and forehead where my pores are more prominent.  It seems to nicely prepare my skin for my foundation and leaves a nice smooth finish.  I feel that the Hourglass and the Benefit Primer do a great job together and the desired effect is achieved, which is a great base for my foundation.  Well done!
Lorac’s Eye Primer was patted gently on my eye lid area.  First time using this primer so I don’t have any comments to make on it.  I usually use NAR’s eye primer or a MAC’s paint pot in Painterly or Groundwork.
I used the Dior Skin in #30 Beige foundation, which also has an SPF of 15.  One of my top 3 foundations and I love it because to blends so nice and gives me a great flawless finish.
Next is the NARS concealer in Custard to hide my dark circles and to lighten up my under eye area.
To set my concealer and foundation I used the Laura Mercier translucent finishing powder, one word “flawless”.  Also my holy grail finishing powder!
To fill in my brows, I used the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow in Medium and used the spooley from the ABH Brow Wiz to blend the product throughout my barely there brows.
On to my cheeks, where I used the Charlotte Tilbury’s Cheek to Chic Blush in Sex on Fire to use as a slight contour and blush.  I tried something a little different and used the Pop part (middle) of the product as the contour and the Swish part (Outter) as the blush.  This left me with a very soft blended look.
For my highlight I pulled out the big guns, the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick Compact in Copper Diamond.  OMG, I am really loving this product, it gives me a really nice highlight and blends well with which ever blush I am using that day.  To me, on my complexion, I get a soft golden glow, smoking!  Awesome job Bobbie Brown.
I like to do my foundation, cheeks and brows before my eyeshadow.
For my eyeshadow I used two palettes, the ABH Maya Mia and the Charlotte Tilbury’s Sophisticate palette.  I used the lighter shades from the CT palette and Caramel from the Maya Mia palette.  I did not do a strong eyeshadow as I was going for a more natural look.
My mascara was the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara which has been a great go to mascara for giving me the thick lash look.  You can see in this picture that I barely even have lashes, which is why I need all the help I can get from a mascara.
The only product that I used and is not in the picture is MAC’s Finishing Spray… Love!

So there you have it, my friends, look of the day.  Until next, keep smiling..it looks good on you and you never know who you may be inspiring 🙂

My Sephora Haul

TOO FACED

Hangover RX Replenishing Face Primer

Hangover

I finally took the plunge and purchased the Too Faced Hangover Rx Replenishing Face Primer.  I’ve heard so many YouTube Beauty Guru’s talk about this primer, some approve and recommend and others disapprove and say “save your money”.  Well, I’m one of those people that has to try products out for myself and determine weather or not it works for me.  I do appreciate their take on different products, however, this is their opinion based on how it worked on them.   My skin type, color and texture is unique to me and the products I have in my collection work perfectly for me based on “my review”.  I purchased the Too Faced Hangover Rx Replenishing Face Primer because of its claim to revitalize and add hydration to my skin.  It is said to boost skin’s radiance, smooth’s out makeup and best of all give an appearance of a good night’s sleep.  I will definitely let you know if all these claims are on point.  Happy Happy to try out.

 SMASHBOX

Photo Finish Primer Water

Smashbox1

OMG another primer!  While snooping through the Sephora website, I came across this little gem.  I don’t know when SMASHBOX released this product but I knew that I needed to check it out, so off it went into my Cart.  The Beauty Guru I see absolutely loving this product is “Young Wild and Polished“.  She seems to really enjoy using it alone or on top of other primers, interesting.  The Sephora Website describes this primer as providing hydration and a sheer radiance to the skin which is free of silicone, alcohol and oil.  It has been pumped full of revitalizing electrolytes that work to reawaken the skin and to restore moisture.

Well heck yeah I’m on board!  Anything that is going to reawaken and add more moisture to my tired dried out from ol’ Man Winter skin has my vote.  I will give this primer water a try and let you know what my thoughts were on this product.

NARS

Translucent Crystal Light Reflecting Setting Powder

Nars1

WOW! I don’t know why I have not tried the NARS Translucent Crystal Light Reflecting Setting Powder before.  I have 3 finishing powders on the go right now which are the Laura Mercier Translucent Powder as an all over face powder, the Besame Brightening Vanilla Powder that I use on my under eye area and the Makeup Forever Pressed Powder.  I don’t do a full on powder but I like the way the Laura Mercier evens out my skin and leaves just a tiny hint of a sheen.  So, I am really looking forward to checking the NARS Translucent Reflecting Setting Powder in Translucent Crystal.

Nars2

BECCA

Limited Edition Shimmering Skin Perfector

Becca1

I mean, come on, have you ever seen anything so pretty.  I seriously bought this just for the packaging and the overall look of this product.  I have other BECCA products and have enjoyed them for their textures, colors, and best of all, their packaging.  I used this yesterday and all I did was dust a very small amount over Benefit’s Coralista Blush (my holy grail blush) and WOW was that ever a gorgeous finish.  It gave me a nice highlight and enhanced my blush just right.  I am so happy with this product that I will definitely be pulling this Shimmering Skin Perfecter out right through the summer.

Becca2

And there you have my latest product haul from Sephora.  I am anxious to try them all out, as I am with any new product I get, and will do a review on them and give you my thoughts.  Overall, I’m liking so far.  Until next time, stay just the way you are, FABULOUS!

I would be happy to hear what your thoughts are on any other these products, please feel free to comment below.

My Empties

Favorite Products

I always feel some urgency when I come to the last little bit of a product, especially if it’s a product I enjoy using and even more so if can’t get right way because I have to travel into the big city to purchase.

Here I have a few holy grail products that I have backs ups waiting and ready to go.  Some products I enjoyed using, however, will not be repurchasing, not because I didn’t like using them but because I can not justify the cost and there is always a similar product to try out.

EMPTIES

Here are my thoughts on my empties from most used to least used:

Tarte’s Maracuja Oil is a product that I have come to enjoy using and have repurchased several times.  I have dry skin and I apply this oil before my moisturizer and it leaves my skin fully moisturized and smoother looking skin, it is a must have for me.

oil

MAC’s Prep + Prime Fix is an absolute must have for myself.  This mineralized finishing mist is sooooo amazingly refreshing and I just love the way it feels going on and how it smooths out my makeup.  This is one product that I will always have back ups that are locked loaded and ready to go.  All I do, after I have completed applying my makeup, is spritz it all over my face and it gives me the most amazing smooth finish that leaves me feeling like a super model ready to walk down the run way, boo yahh!

MAC PrepHourglass’s Ambient Lighting Powder in Radiant Light is very lovely and I like the way it blends my whole makeup look together.  The Hourglass Ambient powders, as explained on Sephora’s website, are meant to capture, diffuse and soften the way the light reflects on our skin.  The powders are to deliver a multidimensional luminescence to every skintone, making it appear softer, younger and lit-from-within.  Basically, the Ambient Powders will enhance our skin in different kinds of light and do not have a fragrance to them.  I love this powder and have my back up ready to go.

hourglass

Marc Jacobs Daisy perfume is another must have for me.  This fragrance makes me feel very lady like and I absolutely love its delicate sweet scent.  Girl, if you have not tested it out then I recommend that the next time you are at Sephora or any fragrance counter, check it out.  I’m sure you will walk out with a bottle or two.

Daisy with Beadwork & Box1The Guerlain Mascara was a product that I used to the bitter bottom not because I loved the product but because of the cost.  Mind you I only paid half price for it at Shopper’s Drug Mart but even at half price it’s a lot more than I would normally pay for a mascara.  There are so many great drug store mascara’s that purchasing a $32 mascara seems a weeeee bit outrageous.  This mascara was kinda clumpy and flaked quite abit during the day, maybe it was not a fresh batch and which is why it was in the half off basket, but still it should have been more wearable.  Anywho, I don’t have any plans of repurchasing!

guerlain

The Clinique Mascara was a deluxe sample that I received with my 100 points rewards at Sephora.  I recall enjoying this mascara, I really don’t know why I have not repurchased, it was great.  It lengthened, it separated, it thickened and best of all the applicator wand was perfect.  Excuse me for a few minutes while I go an add this mascara to my Sephora cart…. OMG, I couldn’t find it…yikes

I have 3 YSL products and one of them was the Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat –  Radiant Touch in Luminous Vanilla.  I did enjoy using this concealer as it was great at hiding my dark under eye circle situation like a dream.  I definitely would have repurchased this wonderful concealer, but “damn” that loveliness is expensive at $50 for 0.1oz.  Since I just ran out, I will have to wait for one of Sephora’s discount days before I can repurchase but then again, in the mean time I’m hitting up the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Custard.  Now there’s a concealer with an attitude.

The Estee Lauder Resilience Lift Firming / Sculpting Face and Neck Crème was fabulous but with all the great lotions out on the market, it’s so easy to get distracted.  So I used it up and then moved on to the Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream that I picked up at Costco.  I mean, who knew you could pick up beauty lotions at Costco, I didn’t.  Since I have started using the Regenerist Cream I have not even given the Estee Lauder a second thought.  Now that I have jumped that ship, I was at Costco last week I picked up two for about $49, OMG.  Anyway, great stuff and I’m hooked.

regenNow lets talk about the AMORE PACIFIC Time Response Eye Renewal Crème.  While at Nordstrom’s I was treated to a mini makeover and received some samples and one was the Amore Eye Cream.  Geee whiz was this an amazing eye cream, if it was so darn expensive I would be all up in that product.  It’s creamy delicate texture was so gorgeous and left my eyes looking so refreshed and softened all my fine lines.  I wish I could always have this product on hand but I can’t, it’s just to pricey for me. 😦  But I will return for another sample 🙂

Lastly, the Soap & Glory – The Righteous Butter with softening shea butter and aloe vera.  The product worked well, was creamy and nourishing BUT I will not be repurchasing because I did not like the smell of this lotion.  I tried to like it and ignore it but I couldn’t.  The product it’s self was great but….. a no go for me.

bettyann 8 001

Well that’s it for my first ever Empties post.  I’ve never done one before and I hope that it was helpful to someone but more so it was a good record for myself for future reference.  So, until next time, stay gorgeous and fabulous.

What’s Up In Makeup

MAKEUP NEWS – MARCH 8, 2015

By Jen Luv’s Reviews

Once again, I am sitting here watching my favorite YouTuber, Jen Luv’s Reviews, present her weekly WHAT’S UP IN MAKEUP video.  Watching her video’s each Sunday morning has come to be part of my weekly routine which I look forward to while I sip on my morning coffee in my PJ’S.  This weeks beauty news is just as informative as last weeks, Fabulous!

The one piece of information that was of interest to me was the portion where she spoke on the new NARS Dual Intensity Blushes that are now available online or by visiting your local Sephora store.  I ordered two of these blushes last week and am anxiously waiting my Sephora box to arrive.  The two blush palettes I ordered are in Fevor and Craving and if they are just as amazing as their Dual Intensity Eyeshadows, then I will be one happy Beauty blogger.  Jen did mention that she has recorded a video of her review on the two blush palettes that she purchased and will be going up in a few days.  She also mentioned that she is trying something new where she will be doing a Live Chat which I find exciting and till take place today from 10:00 – 11:00 pm.  I totally missed this due to the Spring Ahead time change, dang.

There you have it people, my quick post on this beautiful Sunday morning which is turning out to be warmer then yesterday.  Yes, Spring is around the corner and I can’t wait until the Lilac bushes are blooming, the Robins are singing, the Raspberries bushes are thawing out and best of all, I can start wearing other colors besides dark sad colors.

I wish you all a fabulous day and today turns out to be just as great as you expect it to be and I will pray that Creator blesses each and every one of you and keep your family safe and sound, so with that and until next time, continue being the Fabulous and Amazing person that you are.
